Description

Imagine waking up in a hospital bed with your head spinning, only to see your father’s worried face looking down at you. That is exactly how Iman’s story in this part of the book begins. She is confused and doesn't know where she is at first. The room at Rimi Clinic is crowded with her family members like her dad, Mama, and her brother Kabir. As she starts to regain her senses, she tries to remember what happened to her. She reaches up to wipe her face and that is when she sees the henna on her hands. The sight of the beautiful patterns reminds her of the most painful thing in the world. One part of the book says — "I lifted my hand to wipe my face and then I saw the henna, then I remembered that I am a bride" (translated from Hausa). It is such a heartbreaking moment because she remembers that the man she was supposed to marry, Adams, just dumped her right before the wedding. He told her he wasn't going to marry her anymore, and the shock was so much that she just fainted.

The drama is really heavy from the start. Iman is crying and asking her father if he heard what Adams did. She is hoping it is just a bad dream or maybe Adams is just teasing her. But the reality is much worse. Her brother, who she calls Yayanmu, tells her to keep quiet because things have already moved on. He tells her that Adams has actually gone back to his hometown, Yola, to marry another girl named Aisha. Can you imagine the pain? One minute you are preparing for your big day, and the next minute you hear your groom is marrying someone else on the very same day you were supposed to wed. Her brother says that Adams’ parents even called to apologize, saying their son just suddenly changed. He started acting like he would die if he didn't marry this other girl. It sounds like something is very wrong, almost like he is not in his right mind. If you love stories with this kind of deep mystery and family tension, you should definitely download Hausa novels to see how these things play out.

Mama is very angry about the whole thing. She feels like Adams and his family have totally disgraced them. They have already invited guests and everything was ready. She says what Adams did is pure wickedness. But Iman is still in love. Even though he broke her heart, she is begging her dad to help her talk to Adams. She can’t let go. It is so sad to see her like this. But her family has a different plan. They are not going to let the wedding day pass without a wedding. Her dad and Alhaji decide that the marriage will still happen, but they won’t tell Iman who the new groom is. This is where the story gets even more intense. Halima K Mashi really knows how to pull at your heartstrings with this kind of plot. It reminds me of the suspense in MISKILI NE where you just have to keep reading to find out what happens next.

While Iman is suffering, there are some people behind the scenes who are actually happy about her pain. We see Haj Yaya and Haj Laure visiting a "boka" or a witch doctor. It turns out they are the ones behind Adams’ sudden change of heart. They used some kind of dark magic or spirits to turn his mind away from Iman. They didn't want him to marry her because of their own selfish reasons. They are laughing and celebrating that the wedding is ruined. This part of the book is really scary because it shows how far people can go to destroy someone’s happiness. If you like reading about these kinds of hidden secrets and enemies, you can find many best Hausa novels that cover these themes.

As the wedding events continue, Iman is just like a ghost. She moves around but her heart isn't there. Her aunt, Anty Yagana, tries to comfort her. She tells her to go for the wedding lunch party so people won't gossip too much. Iman is so confused because she doesn't even know who she is getting married to. She says — "I am in trouble, I am Iman and I am getting married but I don't even know my husband?" (translated from Hausa). This is such a crazy situation. She is being dressed up in expensive Dubai lace and gold jewelry, looking like a beautiful queen, but she feels like her life is over. She even sees the boxes of clothes Adams brought and asks them to take them away, but they tell her she is a child of grace and should just accept what is happening. The atmosphere is just like in IDO UKU Book 1 and 2 complete, where the characters are caught in situations they can't control.

The day of the lunch party comes, and the place is packed with people. Everyone is dancing and having a good time, but Iman is just sitting there. Her friends like Amira and Mami are trying to cheer her up, and her brother Kabir is being very supportive. But she notices that her other brother, Yayanmu, is acting very strange. He doesn't even look at her or come near her during the party. She wonders why he is being so cold on her big day. After the lunch, they do the "kamu" ceremony, but still, no sign of the groom’s family. It’s all so mysterious and weird. You can find more stories like this on Taskar Novels if you enjoy this kind of suspenseful romance.

On the actual day the marriage is supposed to be tied, Iman is back at her father’s house. The house is full of relatives and old women from their village. One of the old women starts talking, saying she is actually glad Adams left because he was a football player, and she doesn't think football is a real job anyway. Even though Iman is miserable, she can't help but crack a small smile at how funny the old woman is. But the stress is finally too much for her. As the crowd gathers outside for the "daurin aure" (the wedding ceremony), Iman hides in her father’s room. She starts shaking with a very high fever. Her heart condition, which she has been struggling with, starts to act up because of all the worry. It is a very scary moment because she is all alone while everyone else is outside celebrating the wedding.

Her father eventually finds her curled up on the bed, shivering. He is so scared when he sees how hot her body is. He calls for help and tries to get a doctor. He even tries to call her doctor, but since he doesn't have the number, he calls her brother, Yayanmu, to bring the doctor quickly. This part of the story shows how much her family actually cares for her, even though they are forcing her into a mystery marriage. It is a lot like the family drama you find in AFNAN TAKUN FARKO. When the doctor arrives, he says it isn't her usual heart problem, but just extreme stress and fever. He tells them she needs to rest and someone needs to wipe her body with a wet towel to bring the fever down.

The most interesting part happens at the end of this section. Everyone leaves the room except for her brother, Yayanmu. Her father and the aunts go out to take care of the guests, and they leave her alone with him. He is the one who stays back to take care of her. He holds the towel and the water, and you can feel there is some kind of tension or something deeper going on between them. It makes you wonder... who is the real groom? Is it possible that the person she has been seeing every day is the one? If you want to know how this mystery ends and who Iman finally ends up with, you should definitely check out more Hausa novels online.

This book is full of so many feelings. You feel for Iman because she lost the man she thought was her soulmate. You feel angry at the women who used magic to ruin her life. And you are dying of curiosity to know who the new husband is. It is a real rollercoaster. If you like this kind of story, you should also read AUNTYN YARA or maybe BABBAR HUJJA, which are also great. Another one I really liked was GANI GA WANE 1. There are so many good books out there that talk about our culture and the things we go through in life.
